The aim of the call is to introduce you to my coaching process, and give you an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have. It will also help you to decide if my approach suits you. The coaching process requires you to work very closely with your coach and let’s face it, not all of our personalities work well together!

Step 2: Book Your First Coaching Session

If you decide that Health Coaching is the right way for you to take charge of your health, you can either book single coaching sessions or take advantage of the Habit Kickstarter and Ultimate You package deals.

Maryke is an experienced sports physiotherapist who provides online diagnosis and treatment. She is also a health and diabetes coach.

Meet Your Health Coach

I’ve been helping people improve their health since I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2003. I’m passionate about helping others reach their full potential and enjoy life with their families and friends. Life is for living, but having healthy bodies makes it so much more fun!

People look at me and think “She looks healthy. Life must be easy.” But I also struggle with making healthy choices every day. I have a wonky gene that means my cholesterol is naturally high and lives at 9.8. My digestive system also retaliates whenever I indulge in some of my favourite things like red wine, chocolate, biscuits, pasta, bread and coffee. So I’m no stranger to the challenges that lifestyle changes bring.

There is no one size fits all approach to healthy living. Every person’s body has different requirements, we enjoy different things and our lives bring different challenges. My job as your coach is to help you find your own way to a healthier you!

FAQ

Coaching is not about giving advice or telling people what they should be doing. This may sound strange, but think back to how many times in the past people have asked your advice just to turn around and do something totally different. This is because only the person who is in that situation truly knows all the different aspects or players that need to be considered for an ideal solution.

My 7 step process starts by helping you identify what is important for YOU to achieve in your health. It is not about what I think you SHOULD be achieving. Once you’ve established what health goals will make you happy, we then take a closer look at what has stopped you from achieving these goals in the past and how you can overcome these barriers to be successful. This is key if you want to develop a realistic action plan that gets results!

My coaching philosophy works from the premise that my client possesses all the resources and creativity within themselves to elicit their own solution. My task as your coach is to challenge and encourage you so that you can harnass your creativity and find solutions that you may not have found otherwise.

How many times have you set yourself goals in the past to eat more healthily or maybe move more or go to bed before 11pm etc.? How many times have you found yourself default back to bad habits despite really wanting to change?

This is where a Health Coach can help. As your coach I will help you stay focussed, encourage and challenge you to hold yourself accountable. The coaching relationship is also 100% confidential and non-judgemental and empowers you to take confident focussed steps towards your ideal health.

You won’t truly know until you’ve tried it, but you can book a free call with Maryke to find out more about the process and how it can benefit you. Look at the following questions:

  • Do you want to improve your health?
  • Have you known that you want to make changes to your lifestyle for a while, but appear to be stuck in a rut?
  • Does the gap between where you are at the moment and where you want to be health-wise look enormous and overwhelming?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you will very likely benefit from having a Health Coach.

This will depend on the size of your goal. I usually find that between 4 to 6 sessions, at 2 weekly intervals are enough for people to attain short term goals. Larger goals may require longer term support.

The important thing is that you are always in charge of the sessions and that you can decide how often you want to be coached.

Yes, coaching over the phone works just as well. I find that it often helps to focus one’s attention and allows for deep listening as it eliminates all visual distractions.

Coaching sessions are 100% confidential and nothing that is said during a session will ever be disclosed unless it is required by law.

  • Not about me making any judgements on our conversations.
  • Not about me giving you any advice or suggestions during the sessions. You are responsible for creating your own results.
  • We do not delve into the past or deal with psychological issues or serious addictions. Coaching is in no way to be construed as psychological counselling or any type of therapy.
